2020-2021 PL Champs - Add Profile!

Who are we?   PL Team members representing the 44 schools in the district passionate about personalizing learning for kids! Our mission is to continue to expand our understanding of personalized learning through the Core Four and share this journey with our schools. We achieve this through participating in our PL Champ Community of Practice with the shared experiences of taking credit courses, attending webinars, and sharing our new understandings with our home schools. We are determined to have continuous growth and innovation in our teaching practices. ​

A PL Champion functions in 2 capacities... 
  1. As a member community of practice that follow the implementation of PL in their schools and across the district along with reflecting on successes and challenges and providing a support system for problem solving and innovating.
  2. As a site-based leader with a strong voice working to drive PL at their site with the PL team and school staff.
**The role of a PL Champ is limited to advancing PL and should not be incorporated into other responsibilities**

What is the role and accountability as a PL Champion? 
COMMITMENT:
  • Serve on the school PL Team 
  • Serve as an onsite resource for PL
  • Attend quarterly workshops provided by EE
  • Share content, resources, and strategies with home school on a consistent basis
  • Actively participate in the community of practice

  • Earn 4 credits toward recertification and salary advancement (If desired, 2-credits with UAA are offered for each course - $99 each)

Program Components:

Credit Courses

You can receive credit for the work you do as a PL Champ in the form of 2 2-credit courses! Each course costs $99. They are approved for salary advancement in KPBSD and can be used for re-certification.

Fall Semester

Course Outcomes:
  • Identify components of developing a community of practice
  • Identify patterns and needs for innovation at school level
  • ​Formulate short and long term action steps for contribution to innovative school culture
  • Analyze needs on multiple levels (personal practice, school trends, community of practice development)
Badge - Responsive Deepening Practice through Reflection and Iteration
Spring Semester

Course Objectives:
  • Modify & construct new practices based on reflection
  • Illustrate strategies for leading reflective discussions
  • ​Distinguish areas for deepening practice
  • Synthesize Core Four concepts for application in practice​
  • Design sustainability practices in tandem with school team
