Nikki SteinBio:
Hi! I'm one of the Effective Instruction Coaches for KPBSD. I primarily work with new to the profession teachers, but support all teachers in the district with all things related to instruction: PL, ed. tech., curriculum, etc. Before stepping into a coaching role for the 2020-2021 school year, I taught at Nikiski North Star. I'm creative, resourceful, and passionate about integrating innovation and technology into the classroom to develop 21st century skills and problem solving. In 2018, I completed my M.Ed. in Online Innovation and Design. I've dabbled in various technology related pedagogies, including blended learning, flipped classroom model, personalized learning, Makerspaces, and STEAM. I believe in building confidence, independence, and ownership in students - and personalized learning has given me the power to do so! When I'm not wearing my instructional coach hat, I am frolicking around with theatre nerds, crafting up a storm, or trying to make people laugh with my stand up routine. PL Strategy to share: I found that many of the areas of PL, I was already implementing in my classroom before it was a focus of the district (as were countless educators in our district). My focus so far, has been tightening up those strategies and sharing. My favorite, is promoting student choice and building ownership of learning. I think the biggest change that PL has promoted in our district, is SHARING. Sharing ideas, strategies, activities, etc. I know it seems like I'm diverting from the prompt, but I also think that the elements of personalized learning are interconnected and act as dominos - focusing on one area, triggers other areas and strategies. |
