Wave 1 - Learning Walks Summary

Tips and recommendations from Ed Elements on how to use the learning walk summaries!
Picture
  • School Level Summaries:
    • Highlights: Celebrate the great things we saw and take an opportunity to have your teachers share more.
    • Trends: Consider the trends we saw. Where are these on the Core Four Progressions? How might you build on these strengths?
    • Questions to Consider: These might be guiding questions for your PL team in planning support. You may also pose these questions during staff PD as a design challenge.
    • Next Steps for Teachers: You may take some time as a PL team to browse through these resources and think about the best way to share these resources in bits and pieces.  Maybe choose one resource to be the topic of a staff PD.
  • District Level Summaries:
    • Browse through other school reports. You can certainly gather some great ideas from each other!
    • Consider where there might be an opportunity for cross-school collaboration. Reach out and see how you can work together!

KPBSD PL Learning Walks

January 30 - February 1, 2018
Picture
On January 30 - February 1, building administrators and PL teams joined Education Elements to visit classrooms implementing personalized learning across the nine wave 1 schools. The purpose of the walks was to get a pulse check on the implementation of personalized learning, highlight PL practices across the district, and determine next steps for personalized learning in KPBSD. The team was able to visit over 50 classrooms across the district. During our visit, we looked for evidence of the Core Four strategies - focusing particularly on each schools’ identified focus area. After each classroom visit, the team collected notes using a walkthrough tool. The notes were used to drive debrief discussions which have been collected in the school summary notes.
