Sarah Harless-SingerBio:
Hello, my name is Jim Perzechino. I am a teacher at Tebughna School in Tyonek Village. I teach multi grade classes and subjects. I have been teaching here for 14 years. I have many goals for my students, but my biggest goal is to instill a love of reading. I am an avid fisherman and hunter with a love of the outdoors. I have an Alaskan Malamute named Chumley, a black Persian kitten named Fenton, and a pair of Australian finches with no name yet. I try my hardest to incorporate personal learning in my classes, and I hope to learn a lot more about personal learning. PL Strategy to share: I believe assessment should drive instruction. Based on assessment data, I try to use a students strengths in a subject to help improve a students weakness. I start by sharing the data with students and ask for their input. If a student's strength is non-fiction, and a weakness is vocabulary, I start by brainstorming ways with the student on how we can improve vocab by reading non-fiction. I believe in order to be successful it is important to allow students to provide input and also give them choices. I am also focusing on student reflection, and trying to customize interest lessons based on student reflection data. |
