Megan KingBio:
I am a mother of three grown sons and I live in Seward with my husband, dogs, cats, turtle, and fish. I moved to Alaska when I was 6 months old and grew up in Koyuk, Fairbanks, and Kotzebue. My education includes a BA in Biology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and a Master of Public Health from the University of New England, Biddeford, Maine. Fun fact: I was a zookeeper at the Alaska Zoo for a couple of years where I took care of Ahpun & Oreo (polar bear & brown bear) and many other mammals. I still consider myself a zookeeper of adolescent mammals! PL Strategy to share: As a special education teacher, I individualized everything for my students. I am always on the lookout for supplemental programs that students can utilize on their own to fill in any gaps in learning while I work with other students. In addition, I focus on creating a variety of ways for students to demonstrate what they have learned, and I am constantly in search of new ways to make learning more efficient and meaningful to all students. Current Driving Question: How can I best explain/present UDL (Universal Design for Learning) to my colleagues in a simple and efficient way that will encourage them to incorporate it into their classes for the benefit of all students and staff? |
