Lisa GossettBio:
I am a third grade teacher at Tustumena Elementary. I am fortunate to teach at the same school that my mother, daughters, and I attended for elementary. I have been here for more than 15 years. In the past, I also worked as an intensive needs aide (here at Tustumena) and taught at a private preschool. I have two daughters (Taylor and Myia). My oldest lives in Portland, and my youngest attends school at Middle Tennessee State University. So, I do a lot of traveling in the summers to see them. PL Strategy to share: So far, I have used playlist activities for language arts. Students are required to score themselves on each activity. This requires quite a bit of pre-teaching, but by the end of the school year they are successful. I have the playlist sectioned out into my main focus areas (comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar). This allows me to see when students completed an activity, what they scored themselves, and a space for me to give a score. I take this information and put it into the PowerSchool gradebook. This helps me have weekly grades as well as ensures I am hitting the standards. |
